Haiti

Haiti

This apron was made in partnership with New York clothing designer Liz Alig, from button down shirts gathered from donated clothing.  It is sewn by a women's cooperative in the plateau of Haiti - a very rural village where the production of Liz Alig clothing provides a much needed source of income for families that have little opportunities. Liz Alig partners like-minded organizations around the world that pay fair wages and give back to their communities. This empowers women to go back to school, start their own businesses, and provide for their families.  These things are unheard of for women who previously lived on less than a dollar a day.
