Handmade Cloth Dolls

$48.00

Afghan women refugees in India working with Silaiwali, have come together to create beautiful dolls from scraps of leftover fabric, including a bed in a box, complete with pillow and cover. The charming dolls are expressive and creative emblems of sustainability and contribute to building brighter futures. Silaiwali means "A woman who does needlework" in Urdu, and is located in New Delhi, the biggest hub for garment manufacturing in India. Textile waste generated by the fast-fashion industry is the second largest pollutant after vehicular emission in the cities. Abiding by the principles of fair trade, Silaiwali augments circular production by up-cycling textile scraps and dead stock from the garment-manufacturing industry to create hi-fidelity home décor products sold all across the globe. Dolls measure 18" tall x 6" wide
