Hand-knit Sweaters and Scarves
$80.00
Our luxurious sweaters and scarves are made by Mothers in Action, a group of artisans who knit these and other wool textiles in Peru, particularly single mothers who need work to support their families. MIA started in 2007 with only 12 mothers, and nowadays has more than 250 women knitting in different communities of the Peruvian Andes. Not just about the knitting, MIA Peru also provides training and workshops about education, nutrition, and respect for the environment, using pure fibers to create high quality, ecologically-friendly products.
The soft Hermi cropped sweater is a new update to a trusted classic, with coconut buttons and carefully crafted crochet edges for a finished look. The Upsy pullover sweater has a shorter front and dips a little longer in back, also finished with crochet edgeing. Both sweaters are hand knit with alpaca blend Caraveli / FT , 89% alpaca + 11% polyamide.
Their Mini Medusa jacket sweater is hand knitted with fingers, patiently loop by loop all over by our MIA teams in alpaca blend Caraveli / FT (89% alpaca + 11% polyamide)
Their rustic fringe scarf and finished edge scarves are made with 100% pure baby alpaca that has been hand washed and brushed, then knitted for extra softness and unique finishing, measuring 2 x 6 feet. We also offer a few scarves without fringe.
Each garment carries their fair trade sign that guarantees a fair treatment to their workers and the conservation of the environment throughout the production process.
