Hand-knit Sweaters and Scarves
Our luxurious sweaters and scarves are made by Mothers in Action, a group of artisans who knit these and other wool textiles in Peru, particularly single mothers who need work to support their families. MIA started in 2007 with only 12 mothers, and nowadays has more than 250 women knitting in different communities of the Peruvian Andes. Not just about the knitting, MIA Peru also provides training and workshops about education, nutrition, and respect for the environment, using pure fibers to create high quality, ecologically-friendly products.
Their incredibly soft, light hand-knit jacket is reversible, featuring a looped design on one side and a flat, smooth side on the other, with perfect proportions for wearing over pants, jeans, jumpsuits, dresses and skirts. Made with super soft, light alpaca yarn, it is a great layering piece year round.
Their long hand-knit sweater coat with a generous shawl collar is also made with soft alpaca yarns and features pockets on both sides!
Their rustic fringe scarf is made with 100% pure baby alpaca that has been hand washed and brushed, then knitted for extra softness and unique finishing, measuring 2 x 6 feet.
Each garment carries their fair trade sign that guarantees a fair treatment to their workers and the conservation of the environment throughout the production process.
